NVNA AND HOSPICE SCORES 4.5 STARS IN NEW CMS RATING
Just released in July 2015, the Home Care Star Ratings declared Norwell VNA (NVNA) and Hospice a 4.5 star agency, factoring in the Top 10% of homecare agencies measured. The top rating is 5.0 stars. Our rating is particularly impressive when compared to the Massachusetts average at 3.5 and the national average at 3 stars.
CMS (Centers for Medicare/Medicaid) looks at a total of 9 criteria measurements to calculate each agency’s rating. Two domains are examined; process and outcome. The process measures cover timeliness of initiating care, provision of drug education on all medications for patient/caregiver, and influenza immunization for the current flu season. Outcome measures include improvement in ambulation, bed transfers, bathing, shortness of breath (dyspnea) and pain that has interfered with activity. Acute care hospitalizations within the 60 day period of being on homecare services is also measured.
CMS considers these ratings valuable for consumers to evaluate agency performance with easy to understand information.
